The CLS will be led by experts from Penn State, Michigan State, and Stockholm Environment Institute in the U.S. and Makerere University in Uganda, who lead the SustainFood network project supported by the National Science Foundation. Students selected to participate in the CLS will connect with farmers, policymakers, and other stakeholders at the community level to assess food security challenges and identify innovative solutions using the water-energy-food nexus framework. The CLS is two weeks long and consists of participation with other U.S. and African students in field research, engagement with stakeholders, applying integrative systems modeling, and co-creating WEF solutions with community and policymakers.
