Synopsis;
With a growing youth population in East Africa, agriculture presents immense opportunities for entrepreneurship and innovation. This seminar will equip aspiring entrepreneurs with the knowledge and skills to establish agribusiness ventures that leverage technology to address local challenges.
The “Harvesting the Sun Twice” Agrivoltaic concept demonstrates how solar power generation, crop production and rainwater harvesting can be integrated on the same land area to maximize resource utilization. This innovative approach can help address energy needs while boosting agricultural productivity. Participants will learn about potential business opportunities across the agribusiness value chain that they can tap into. Our speaker will share her experiences with youth and women empowerment and entrepreneurship in East Africa.

Ann Macharia, Training Manager, Latia Agripreneurship Institute | Latia Agribusiness Solutions Kenya
Ann is a dedicated and versatile professional in the agricultural sector with a strong focus on youth and women empowerment. She serves as the Training Manager at Latia Agripreneurship Institute in Kenya, where she actively contributes to the development and implementation of Competence-Based Education and Training (CBET) programs. With a deep commitment to staying current with emerging farming trends, Ann brings a forward-thinking approach to her work.
Ann’s dedication to empowering youth and women is evident through her mentorship and training programs, emphasizing horticulture, nursery production, and greenhouse management. She has also coordinated the Skill Up project, which equips young individuals with practical agricultural skills.
In her current role as Training Manager, Ann infuses soft skills into the technical training curriculum, prioritizing gender inclusivity and promoting opportunities for women in agriculture. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Education and Extension, and she is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Global Food Security and Nutrition.
